Interviews (Ninthuja):
Age: 20
1).What music genre do you listen to and what aspect of that genre makes you enjoy it more?
The songs I listen to depend on my mood and I don’t have a favourite genre. Sad, emotional songs when I’m feeling emotional, ‘Screamo’ when I’m angry and so on.
2a).What is your favourite music video and your least favourite video and why?
Lots of favourite ones: Earth Song- MJ, Back to Black, You need me- Ed Sheeran, Cousins- Vampire Weekend, What is love- NeverShoutNever/ they’re different and some are cute!
Least favourite would be some of those hip-hop songs that sexualises and objectifies female body and it just shows how a singer is surrounded by ‘boobs and asses’.
2b).What other music videos have caught your eye in the past and why?
A lot of them; Rizzle Kicks- Down with the trumpet, when I was a youngster, are the latest ones. Catchy tunes and the video seems fun!
3a).Who is currently your favourite band/artist and why?
Currently I’m loving Ed Sheeran! He’s got an amazing voice and his videos are different from one song to another: The A Team and You need me are so very different. The singer uses paw print as a signature and that’s adorable!
3b). Is there something unique about this artist that makes them stand out to you? (can you explain what it is and how it appeals to you)
He likes orange! And he’s tattooed his album name after it became a top seller. He also makes these cute jewelleries!
4).What type of characters do you like to see in a music video and why?
I don’t want to see those ‘ideal bodies’ anymore and cover the skin please! Represent the real people!
5). In a song, which hold more importance to you the lyrics or music or both and why?
Both- because for a song I feel one needs both, to carry the emotion but to also have and distinctive rhythm which stays with the mind.

1).What music genre do you listen to and what aspect of that genre makes you enjoy it more?
The genre that I listen to is pop because when I listen to pop songs they make me feel happy and excited. There is a bubbly feel that comes from it, so I automatically feel uplifted and cheerful when I listen to it.
2a).What is your favourite music video and your least favourite video and why?
My favourite music video is 'I Hate This Part’ by the Pussycat Dolls because whenever I hear this song it makes me look back in the past and say it's time to move on, as I am able to relate to the lyrics. My least favourite music video is 'Mr. Saxobeat’ by Alexandra Stan because every time I hear this song I feel depressed and annoyed, it really isn’t the type of music I enjoy.
2b).What other music videos have caught your eye in the past and why?
‘What makes you beautiful’ by One Direction, and ‘Papi’ by Jennifer Lopez and some other similar videos; because they make me feel good and most of the lyrics get stuck in my head so I remember it and sing it, even if I’m not listening to the song, so mainly the catchy and addictive songs which are easy to understand.
3a).Who is currently your favourite band/artist and why?
Jennifer Lopez, because she brings my feelings and emotions out, every time I hear any of her songs.
3b). Is there something unique about this artist that makes them stand out to you? (can you explain what it is and how it appeals to you)
Jennifer Lopez doesn't only use one type of genre she uses different genres such as r’n’b, pop and others and this makes her stand out.
4).What type of characters do you like to see in a music video and why?
I like to see different types of genres coming together in a music video so it makes it more interesting and unique.
5). In a song, which hold more importance to you the lyrics or music or both and why?
Lyrics; because some of the lyrics stick to my head and I remember these lyrics, mainly those which I relate to and the meaning is able to come through where I can connect.
